Welcome to D&H Enterprises’ March blog! We hope that Winter has been kind to you and yours as Spring begins to turn the corner (March 20th).
Since the month began, we moved from a ‘very low’ to ‘moderate’ chance of pollen to just above ‘moderate,’ which suggests this allergy season might be pretty brutal. Many of the things that protect us from COVID-19 also protect us from pollen. That can provide a good context for understanding how to avoid pollen this allergy season.
You can do many things to reduce the suffering of you or your passengers in the coming season. Consider some of these if allergies get to be a daily problem:
- Detailing wipedown. You carry pollen into your car when you enter it, and it stays there. Be sure to give the interior a proper wipedown. Since COVID-19 is also an issue, it makes good sense to use an anti-bacterial spray to sanitize as you remove traces of pollen.
- Car Wash. If the season is dry and the rains can’t clean the pollen off your exterior, take it for a car wash. Pollen on your car ends up in the cabin as you lean against the car or touch the doors.
- Be aware of your location. If you park next to a gorgeous field of spring fauna, those flowers will likely shower pollen across your car and can transfer to your clothes and then into the cabin.
- Replace the air filters. In an extreme allergy season, your car’s air filters will gum up with pollen. Replacing the engine filter will improve your gas mileage and replacing the cabin filter will keep you breathing better.
