Welcome to the June blog for D&H Enterprises! As we drive into Summer’s heat, it looks like the world is finally about to reset to where we were before the COVID-19 Pandemic. Theme parks are opening up, masks are optional again, and July 4th looks promising for celebrations and road trips.


The end of June and the first week of July happens to be National Tire Safety Week (June 28th – July 4th), which makes this month a great time to discuss how to check the wear on your tires. Soon, everyone will be driving in or out of California for their long-gestating summer trips, and to get ready, we’d better have a close look at our tires.


Tread depth is important for a number of reasons, from the shallow (noise) to the helpful (hydroplaning) to the vital (road-gripping). We’re big fans of the penny method, where a tire’s tread is tested with the head of Abraham Lincoln, as seen in this Les Schwab video:
